A video guide introduction to the SRH840 over-ear headphones
Shure have brought out some great reference headphones recently…SRH 240, 440 and the 840.
Today we are going to give you an insight into the SRH840 reference headphones. This top of the range model delivers an astonishing level of sound isolation by simply sticking them on your ears. Looking for comfort and a snug fit, these are well worth a look.

Bought these headphones to replace broken Beyer Dynamic DT770 which were fantastic. However I prefer these Shure's sound which is clear across all frequencies. Heavier than the DT770 but that is compensated for by the overall fit/comfort which is good. They have exceeded my expectations. I chose to buy these as an "open box" item which saved a further £20. Delivered in less than 24 hours from placing order. Thus delivery exceeded expectations as well. Overall excellent, would recomend.

Great pair of headphones! Good isolation and music reproduction. Some reviews argue that the headphones are a bit heavy and cause neck strain. Although they are a bit heavier than I am used to, they are extremely comfortable and I have not experienced this neck pain.
Highly recommended!

Received these as a birthday present almost a month ago and it's like I'm re-discovering my music all over again. Much more comfortable and adjustable than any other fit I've tried (in-ear for example), or any other pair of headphones as a matter of fact. Portability is very simple and nifty with the collapsible design and carry case. With the SRH840's, there's a lot of depth and clarity and I've heard more elements to songs that I haven't previously picked up on before.
If I had a minor gripe, it would be that the bass can be slightly more prominent than other frequencies in some songs, but I guess it depends on exactly what you listen to.
Overall, I greatly recommend these and in my opinion, they will certainly come in handy for my listening exams in the near future. A superb product.

Just bought these to accompany my Cowon X7 and they sound fantastic together. Lovely sound staging, great texture and depth. Operah and orchestral music comes alive. Very highly recommended.

I've been using these headphones for a few weeks now. Using my Cowon D2 I was not that impressed but when I play piano via my computer with them they are great. Although quite tight, I soon forgot I was wearing them and concentrated on the music. A lively detailed sound with good bass, ideal for mixing tracks.

The Shure brand is a warranty of quality when we are talking about ear-buds. In this new adventure called 'professional headphones', the SRH840 are their best product. The unboxing is a really great experience because every thing is well packed and the box, also, include all of the required accessories. A couple of extra ear pads, a gold 6,3mm adapter and a leather carrying bag. The build quality is excellent. Details like the detachable cable and thread adapter are clear examples of this. The quality sound is excellent for jazz, classic music and acoustic. The bass is present every time but doesn't distract from the other frequencies (instead of the CX300 for example), the sound is absolutely neutral and clear. Because of being closed headphones the sound stage isn't comparable with Open headphones like the Senn HD600 but they are great. They are a little bit weighty but really comfortable and soft, so you can use it for long periods.
In other music styles of music like heavy or rock maybe is not the best option, in this kind of music are a little sibilant. You can also buy a couple of Alessandro MS1, which is a very good partner for this kind of auditions. Respect to their direct opponents like Denon D2000 and AKG K701/2, I would like to say that in many forums are lots of discussions between the Denon and this Shure, but talking about price there are no discussions at all. Respect to the AKG, this headphones are absolutely more polivalent in recommendable kinds of music to listen. Finally I also want to say that this headphones are low impedance so you don't need extra amplification. Although connect them to a low cost amplifier (Cmoy)is a great option.

Whilst I am admittedly slight;y biased towards Shure products (I have a set of in-ear SE530s that I travel with every day which are amazing!), I wanted something for my husband. He's a bit funny with in-canal phones, so I needed something which sounded great but was nice and comfortable too.
These tick all those boxes. We're both really pleased, as he gets to play on the PC and I get to watch the soaps in peace.
They deliver the same great quality (build and sound-quality wise) I'd expect from Shure.
And thanks again to Amp3 for another swift, safe and easy transaction.
